How to write a useful community pulse update

July 17, 2026 · by the Venet team

A pulse update works when another founder can understand it in a few seconds and decide whether they can help.

Use this structure:

  1. Moved: what changed since your last update.
  2. Learning: what the change taught you.
  3. Blocked: what is slowing the next step.
  4. Ask: the specific response that would help.

For example: “We spoke to eight users and learned that setup, not pricing, is the main drop-off. We are testing a shorter flow this week. If you have improved activation after a long setup, I would value one example.”

Keep the ask narrow

“Any thoughts?” creates work for the reader. Ask for a benchmark, introduction, critique, or example. A small ask is easier to answer and more likely to create a useful exchange.

Close the loop

When someone responds, share what you changed or learned. Follow-through turns a pulse update into a relationship instead of another post in a feed.
